The Norwegian footballer was key for the Citizens away win at Elland Road, scoring two second-half goals and steering the game to safe ground.

After almost half a season, Erling Haaland has proven to the world he is a record-breeaking machine in one of the top leagues in the world, and today's performance against Leeds will be a testament of that notion.

The former Borussia Dortmund player cemented his reputation as a key player for Pep's team with a couple of goals against Leeds, paving the way to earn three more points and to keep the pace against Arsenal, who won their match on Monday and had extended their lead at the top of the league. But just as the Gunners had added points to the gap between them and the Citizens, Haaland managed to do just that when it comes to the top scorers' race.

Haaland's brace saw him reach 20 goals in the Premier League season, helping him set a new record not only for the club, but for the league itself. The Norwegian striker is now a part of the Premier League's record books for reaching 20 EPL goals faster than any other player in history, surpassing the legendary Kevin Phillips in that department...and with difference.

Just to put things in perspective, here is how Haaland's goalscoring haul compares to other Premier League teams.

Right after the game, Haaland admitted that the World Cup pause will even feed his hunger for more goals and titles.

"I recharged my batteries. To see other players score at the World Cup, kind of motivates me, and irritates me..." Haaland stated.

Here is Haaland's second goal of the evening, the one that helped him reach that record (Image might be geo-restricted).

Manchester City will now go on to face Everton on December 31, in what will mark the end of a prolific 2022 for the Norwegian ace.
