The world of football mourns the loss of perhaps the greatest player of all time. Pelé has passed away today in company of his family and friends, following a long battle with a cancer diagnosis.
Pelé became a global icon ever since he led Brazil to their first-ever FIFA World Cup title, which he accomplished shortly after his 17th birthday. Pelé would add two more world titles in 1962 and 1970, where they defeated Italy in the title clash.
Pelé was being taken care of by his daughters and sons, who visited him regularly during this last spell in the hospital. The family shared the sad news to the world via Pelé's social media accounts.

The Brazilian ace born in Minas Gerais played for two clubs during his long career. He only played for Santos in his home country and for New York Cosmos between 1975 and 1980. He scored over 1,200 goals in his career, including 77 goals for A Canarinha, the joint-most for the team since December, after Neymar matched his record a couple of weeks back.
