The Argentine ace is set to end his contract with PSG this season, and rumors about a link to Camp Nou have started to emerge.

The recent words by Lionel Messi's brother, Matías, have dropped a huge hint on when the Argentine star could return to Camp Nou...or what it would take to see him re-joining the Blaugrana side.

The player's sibling spoke on a Twitch interview and slammed current president Joan Laporta for being "ungrateful" to his brother and to everything Lionel Messi gave to the club. While he stepped back and apologized for these words, this rant has been taken as an indication by fans and experts of when the Argentine ace could be expected back with the Spanish club.

The relationship between Laporta and the Argentine is not on its best terms, as Messi and his inner circle have blamed the president for his exit from the Blaugrana side back in the summer of 2021. Since then, Joan Laporta has always tried to patch things up between him and the Messi family, but "La Pulga" and his father, who were deeply involved in the negotiations, have even asked the president to stop mentioning Messi's name in public events to avoid any connection between them and the Spanish attorney.

Now, with Matías Messi's words being public, the theory of watching Messi return to Barcelona after Laporta's exit has started to take shape. The presidential elections at the Blaugrana club will take place in 2025, and if Laporta loses the bid, Messi could go back to his beloved club in 2026, according to Marca Claro Argentina.

In fact, the report in the Argentine media outlet states that Matías Messi's words were no accident, and they imply that the player's sibling stepped up to let the team's supporters know what it would take to see the Argentine back with the club. All they need to do is to part ways with the president, who was elected in 2021.
