Spurs are on the lookout for a new coach and are eyeing a reunion with their former Argentine tactician.

Tottenham remain on the lookout for a new head coach for the upcoming 2021/20 season, having sacked Jose Mourinho just over a month ago, with Ryan Mason being given the role of caretaker until the summer. Several managers have been scouted but not many expected former boss Mauricio Pochettino to be linked with a return this summer.

According to the Sun, however, this is a possibility. The highly-popular Argentine tactician was sacked by the north London giants in November 2019 after a huge drop in form, a move which was welcomed by some but questioned by many as he had led them to a UEFA Champions League final only a few months earlier.

The coach brought in to replace the South American was Mourinho and while he was deemed the ideal man to lead the club back into the top four and win silverware, something that eluded Pochettino during his time there, the Special One failed to achieve both targets. Spurs crashed out of the Europa League round of 16 in embarrassing fashion and appeared destined to miss out on a UEFA Champions League spot for the second season running when Jose was relieved of his duties.

According to the British tabloid, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, who is looking into the possibility of resigning Pochettino, has admitted to close friends that his decision to sack the Argentine back in 2019 was a huge mistake. Furthermore, the report claims that Mauricio is "unhappy" at Paris and would welcome a return to the English capital.

The former Southampton boss only joined PSG back in January but still managed to guide the club to two titles: the Coupe de France and the Trophée des Champions. Regardless, the Argentine missed out on the Ligue 1 title, losing it to Lille, and came up short in the UEFA Champions League, crashing out in the semi-finals at the hands of Man City.

Pochettino, who enjoyed a great relationship with the Tottenham higher-ups and the fans, feels he has unfinished business at Spurs. Having taken the EPL side from pretenders to a top-four club all the while playing attractive football and injecting youth into the team, his return would likely be a welcomed one.

Furthermore, Levy sees his return as a key move in the bid to hold onto wantaway superstar Harry Kane. After going another season trophyless, the Englishman has informed the club of his desire to leave, with Man United, Man City, and Chelsea keen on landing the Premier League Golden Boot winner. However, Tottenham understand that achieving a reunion is currently a stretch and would require Pochettino to be sacked at PSG.
