Both teams have been in solid form lately, with the Red Devils receiving plenty of plaudits for turning their season around, while the Reds have also found a new lease on life since the start of the current year.
However, at the end of the match, it was only one group of fans celebrating as Jurgen Klopp's men crushed Erik ten Hag's side 7-0 to set multiple records, including the worst-ever defeat for Manchester United. While it was a happy occasion for the home crowd, the game was marred due to an unruly teenager who decided to try to disrupt proceedings.
According to reports, a 16-year-old boy ran onto the pitch, hoping probably to go viral or get massive amounts of attention following Roberto Firmino's goal and his antics saw Liverpool's Andy Robertson suffer an injury. Fortunately for Klopp's team, the Scottish defender was able to continue playing after receiving treatment, and the offending teen was quickly apprehended by stewards and hauled off the pitch.
Naturally, Klopp and many other fans were not left impressed, and now, the boy, who cannot be named due to his age, has been arrested by the police and could face criminal charges. In addition, Liverpool, who are conducting their own celebration, are looking into several punishment options, including a possible lifetime ban to block him from attending matches at not just Anfield, but all Premier League stadiums.
On a more pleasant note, Liverpool's resounding victory sees them pull just three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham as the Reds aim to make a late push for a Champions League spot. They will be next in action on March 11th on the road against Bournemouth, before traveling to Madrid to take on the reigning Champions League winners in what certainly will be a very tough test for Klopp's troops.
