On Sunday, league leaders Napoli welcomed reigning champions AC Milan for an intriguing clash at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. The Partenopei have been flying high all season as they hope to win what would be their first Scudetto in over 30 years, and were looking to make it a domestic double against the Rossoneri after winning the reverse fixture 2-1.
This meeting was quite unique given that Milan and Napoli will face off once again this month, with a spot in the Champions League semi-finals awaiting the winner. Given the vast gulf between the two teams, with Napoli enjoying a whopping 23 point lead over their opponents and Milan having hit a rough patch in 2023, many figured that it should be smooth sailing for Luciano Spalletti's side.
Clearly, the absence of top striker Victor Osimhen really hit the hosts hard, as they went on to shockingly lose the game 4-0. In doing so, multiple milestones were set, and depending on what team you were supporting during Sunday's game, they will excite or disappoint you.
Here are some of the most interesting stats from Milan's 4-0 drubbing of Napoli on Sunday:
10 - Since 2004/05, Rafael Leao is only the third AC Milan player able to score 10+ goals for 2 Serie A campaigns in a row before turning 24, after Mario Balotelli (12/13 & 13/14) and Alexandre Pato (08/09, 09/10 & 10/11). Level. pic.twitter.com/dptlX1MhRI
