The Reds travel to Elland Road on Monday as Klopp looks to avoid going six straight games without a win for the first time at Liverpool.

Following their unforgettable showdown with Arsenal last weekend, Liverpool return to action in the Premier League on Monday as Jurgen Klopp's struggling side look to make up some ground in the race for European football. Standing in their way is Leeds, the relegation-battling side who look to pull off the double against the Reds when they lock horns at Elland Road.

The hosts are 16th in the table and sit only two points above the relegation zone. While Rudi Gracia was brought in to replace Jesse Marsch and steer the Peacocks away from the drop zone, things haven't gone well for the club.

Leeds have won twice in their last five outings, beating Wolves and Nottingham Forest over the last 30 days, but the club's fortune has roughly remained the same. The team was a point above the relegation zone in Jesse Marsch's final game. Additionally, the signs of promise under Gracia were heavily dented thanks to their dreadful performance against Crystal Palace last weekend.

Patrick Bamford and Co. hosted the Eagles in the recent round and despite taking the lead courtesy of the aforementioned English striker, the hosts ended up losing by a whopping 5-1 scoreline, with Michael Olise registering a hat-trick of assists for the Eagles.

This was the second time this month that Gracia's men lost by 4+ goals, having been dismantled 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium by Arsenal. However, Leeds are the only side to beat Liverpool at Anfield this season and will be looking to pull off the double against the mighty Reds.

In fact, no other team has beaten Klopp's men at their iconic stadium in the Premier League since March 2021. While that feat was achieved by Marsch back in October, many of those players will be on hand at Elland Road on Monday.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are in a slump of their own. The last time the English giants won a Premier League game was over a month ago when they thrashed Manchester United 7-0 at Anfield. Since then, the Merseyside giants have failed to win five games in a row in all competitions.

This means for the first time ever, Klopp is at risk of going six straight games at Liverpool without a victory. This is just one of many statistics that sum up the team's struggles this season.

Salah and Co. are currently eighth in the table. Not only are four of the traditional big six — Arsenal, Man City, Man United, and Tottenham — ahead of them in the table, but the continental powerhouse are also trailing Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Brighton in the standings.

Liverpool are 15 points adrift of fourth-placed Newcastle with only 8-9 games left to play. This means a top-four finish, while not mathematically impossible, is out of the question for the six-time UEFA Champions League winners.

However, the visitors were unfortunate not to win their most recent game, having drawn 2-2 with Arsenal after fighting from 2-0 down. Salah missed a penalty while Aaron Ramsdale pulled off several tremendous saves to deny the Reds a win. Regardless, with Klopp's men being in a horrible state, the club cannot afford a second consecutive defeat against Leeds.

Team news

Leeds: Stuart Dallas and Tyler Adams are unavailable for the home side but Maximilian Wober could return. Wilfried Gnonto will be hoping for a start after being on the bench in back-to-back games.

Liverpool: Alisson Becker and Ibrahima Konate had issues but both men should be fine for this tie. Luis Diaz could make his return in this game but Stefan Bajcetic, Naby Keita, and Calvin Ramsay are all sidelined. Meanwhile, Thiago and Darwin Nunez will be pushing for starts.
