The Portuguese player is on loan until the end of the season, and the Blues have shown interest in adding him to their permanent roster.

Joao Felix may be quite talented and he still has to prove quite a bit in the world of football, but apparently Atlético Madrid will not want to be involved in his development.

Speaking in an interview with Spanish media outlet Cadena Ser, Atlético's president Enrique Cerezo revealed that the player will most-likely join Chelsea on a permanent deal, especially due to his lack of impact with Atlético despite the huge investment he meant for the club.

"Each team's circumstances are different. Joao will be a great player and in a short amount of time. Chelsea are a big team that can rely on him," Cerezo stated.

Asked on why the Portuguese failed to show his skills with Los Colchoneros, Cerezo admitted that the environment around the team did not help him to show his worth.

"Joao was under a lot of pressure, he is a star, but he did not have the chance to prove that here,"the Spanish side's boss added.

The main man for Los Colchoneros went on to discuss what would happen to Félix's career if Chelsea ended up turning down the option to sign a permanent deal with the footballer.

"If he came back, we would welcome him with open arms. You can never rule anything out in football, there can be surprises along the way," Cerezo stated.

Before the interview concluded, Enrique Cerezco added that coach Diego Simeone will remain with the club beyond this season, while also hinting that his future with the club will only be decided by the coach himself.

"Everything's the same with Cholo Simeone. He will continue to coach the club until he decides it is time for him to leave," Cerezo concluded.
