The team that will return to League Two after 15 years will try to twist the Welshman's arm to lead their quest for a second promotion in a row.

Wrexham AFC's story has caught the eyes and hearts of football fans across the globe ever since Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney took over as the team's owners. Now, the duo are reportedly interested in bringing back Gareth Bale back from retirement to help the Welsh side in their attempt to go back to League One.

McElhenney, known for shows such as "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", "Lost", and "Welcome to Wrexham", became the owner of the Welsh club in 2020, along with Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds. After two full seasons at the helm, the actors who knew nothing about football brought the team back from the National League to England's professional football system, and their plans to bring Bale out of retirement have been sparked by a video from the Welsh ace himself.

The former Real Madrid and Tottenham footballer congratulated McElhenney for bringing Wrexham back to League Two, and the Hollywood actor did not waste the chance to "invite" Bale for one last dance with one of the oldest teams in football history.

It may seem a bit far-fetched right now to see Bale wearing Wrexham's jersey at the moment, but it would not be the first stunt of its kind McElhenney and Reynolds pull off. Earlier this season, the duo convinced former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster to help out since their shot-stoppers had come down with injuries, and the goalie delivered some classy performances for the recently promoted club in seven apps.

Bale himself has been seen at the team's grounds watching their games, which could be a good sign for Wrexham's high-profile owners.
