The Norwegian striker has smashed another record in the English top-flight league as his side secured a crucial win on Wednesday night.

Erling Haaland has broken yet another Premier League record after inspiring Manchester City to another vital win in their Premier League title charge. The 22-year-old Norwegian striker scored his 33rd goal of the season in Wednesday night's 4-1 win over Arsenal, to topple Mohamed Salaha's feat as the outright top scorer in a 38-game Premier League season.

The highly anticipated clash between defending champions City and current league leaders Arsenal barely lived up to expectations, with the former securing the win with little to no resistance inside the Etihad. Ahead of the clash, Pep Guardiola's side was five points behind the Gunners while having two games in hand. Knowing that victory would put their quest to retain the title in their own hands, the Citizens came out with all guns blazing, and were successful in putting the Londoners to the sword.

Talisman Kevin De Bruyne was largely instrumental in the night's win, and was successful in opening the scoring with a sensational breakaway goal inside the first seven minutes. The Belgian playmaker who ended the night with the Man of the Match award subsequently assisted John Stones for his first Premier League goal in two years. Following a prolonged check by the Video Assistant Referee, the goal was made to stand as City entered the break with a two goal advantage.

In the early minutes of the second half, Erling Haaalnd assisted De Bruyne once more for Man City's third goal of the night. The former subsequently took his side's tslly to four in the fifth minute of additional time, almost 10 minutes after Rob Holding had scored Arsenal's consolation goal.

With the goal, Haaland took his tally for the Premier League season to 33 in 31 appearances, beating Mohamed Salah to the record with seven more games to spare. On the contrary, the night's result also meant that Manchester City, who still have two games in hand, are just two points behind Arsenal, and could establish a two point lead should they emerge victorious in their outstanding matches.
