The footballer may be one of the best in the business, but some, like this compatriot of his, believe he will not have a legacy if he can't win more trophies.

Kylian Mbappé's skills are undeniable, and some former footballers believe that the time could not be better for him to switch leagues in his quest to cement his legacy as a football icon.

Speaking in an interview with Legal Sportsbook, 1998 World Cup winner with France Emmanuel Petit opened up about Kylian Mbappé's future, urging the player to search for other employment opportunities if he really wants to win trophies such as the UEFA Champions League or individual accolades.

"I think that, to become the best player in the world, he would need to leave PSG. He should do that if he wants to win Champions League titles or even a Ballon D'Or," Petit stated.

The former midfielder admitted that rumors about Mbappé and Real Madrid will always be heard, despite the famous snub he pulled against Los Merengues last year.

"I think he still has a chance to join Real Madrid, even if it is not as clear as it was a couple of years ago or last season. I believe Florentino Pérez said a while ago he would always be welcome at the Bernabeu, but he needed to think about his wage demands," Petit recalled.

Then, the former Chelsea player hinted that things could change soon for Mbappé despite the long-term deal he signed with Les Parisiens.

"He signed a three-year deal with PSG last time, but that third season is negotiable. If that is the case, next season could be a turning point in Mbappé's career," Petit added.

Asked about who should be considered as the best in the world between Haaland and Mbappé, Petit handed a cheeky response while praising his compatriot.

"Can I pick both? That is a tough choice to make, but I will go with Kylian because we're both French. I will also pick him because he has been a rocket since he was seventeen. He has also broken all records in France, so..." Petit concluded.

Mbappé is expected to play one more game with PSG on Sunday, as Les Parisiens continue their run for another Ligue 1 title.
