Mass clearing out under Pochettino

Mass exodus: Pochettino reportedly planning to ship out at least 10 Chelsea players

May 31, 2023 By Michelle Bonsu
The new Chelsea boss will be expected to ruthlessly wield the axe as the Blues will need to totally overhaul their squad ahead of next season.

Following their poor end to the 2022/23 season, Chelsea will be determined to turn over a new leaf under new boss Mauricio Pochettino.

And the former Tottenham manager has wasted no time in already looking to make his stamp on the club. Earlier, we reported that Pochettino has already decided to send Joao Felix packing, with the Portuguese star set to return back to Atletico Madrid after the Blues decided not to make his loan deal a permanent one.

Felix isn't the only player on the chopping block, with many believing that American international Christian Pulisic will also be leaving Stamford Bridge. Additionally, Pulisic could be joined by a plethora of players. Some are fan favorites who have seen form and fitness desert them, while some others are promoted youth players who have not really made the grade since arriving on the senior squad.

Meanwhile, others are big money signings who just haven't panned out.

According to reports, some of the players set to leave Stanford Bridge before the end of the summer may include  N'Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Hakim Ziyech, Cesar Azpilicueta, Denis Zakaria, Kalidou Koulibaly, Edouard Mendy, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mason Mount, Trevoh Chalobah, and Conor Gallagher.

Zakaria, who was on loan from Juventus, will head back to the Bianconeri, while Aubameyang, Mendy, and Ziyech are among those pretty much guaranteed to leave along with Pulisic. However, Mount, who has been the subject of transfer speculation is still not an absolute definite departure. The English international, who came up through Chelsea's youth ranks, is still at loggerheads with the Blues regarding his contract, and many believe that both his new manager and the club will be hoping to find a resolution to ensure he remains at Stamford Bridge for a bit longer.
