The French center-back has agreed to a new Emirates Stadium deal and that agreement is actually longer than initially thought.

William Saliba is one of the best young center-backs in the world. As a result, Arsenal fans entered the summer transfer window fretting over the future of the French sensation given that he has only one more year left on his current deal.

The Gunners signed the defender back in 2019 but sent him back out on loan for the first three years of that contract. Fortunately, the reliable David Ornstein of the Athletic announced a few days ago that the North London giants had reached an agreement with the 22-year-old.

However, while this initially sparked euphoria, further concerns were raised after the duration of his new deal, which is yet to be signed, was revealed. According to the Athletic, the former St. Etienne talent will put pen to paper on a four-year deal, not a five-year contract.

As a result, sections of the Arsenal fan base were left frustrated as the Premier League runners-up could end up in this same situation in two years' time. Is the Frenchman happy in North London but also eyeing an exit in two or three years?

Fortunately for the fans, a new report has been revealed by RMC Sport. While Saliba has agreed to a new four-year deal, the French news outlet claims that there is an option for an additional year in this contract.

This was corroborated by London World, with that news outlet reporting that both the center-back and Hale End graduate Reiss Nelson are set to put pen to paper at the club. RMC Sport also named a few clubs that were interested in Saliba due to his contractual situation, namely Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

However, both clubs have been dealt a huge blow as they are set to miss out on one of the hottest center-backs in the game. The Gunners, meanwhile, can enjoy his services for the foreseeable future as Mikel Arteta's side look to get their hands on the Premier League title next season.
