The Spanish shot-stopper was not able to reach an agreement to extend his deal, forcing the Red Devils to seek for a new No.1.

David De Gea's future was the matter of much speculation during the final months of the season, and with the club's recent activity to inform the league of their retained list, the club have finally confirmed he will not be around for the 2023-24 campaign.

The Spanish goalkeeper, who spent 12 seasons at Old Trafford, is set to put an end to his stay in the Premier League after failing to reach an agreement to see his wages reduced. De Gea is one of the team's top earners, collecting over $370K weekly, but neither the player nor the club have been able to negotiate a new contract.

De Gea won the Golden Glove for the recently concluded season, but some of his performances raised a few eyebrows among fans who started demanding a change. Now, with his exit, the club will be forced to search for another goalkeeper, as Tom Heaton, Nathan Bishop, and Dean Henderson do not seem to have what it takes to fill his shoes.

A report by The Mirror hints that coach Erik Ten Hag has named three goalies in his shortlist to replace De Gea. That list reportedly includes Inter Milan goalie Andre Onana, Everton's Jordan Pickford, and Porto's Diogo Costa.

The list of players set to leave the Red Devils also includes Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe as the most notable footballers that are set to leave Old Trafford.

De Gea won one Premier League title, one UEFA Europa League crown, two Carabao Cups, three FA Community Shields, and one FA Cup title while at Old Trafford. He will also leave the club as the fifth player with most caps for the club, with his tally reaching 545 games for the Red Devils.
