The Argentinian superstar shocked world football when he announced he's making MLS his next destination, and now the amount of money he's set to receive has been revealed.

Just a few weeks ago, Lionel Messi made headlines around the world following his shocking decision to move to Major League Soccer. The 36-year-old Argentinian superstar, who is a heavy contender for the next Ballon d'Or following his showings during his country's triumph at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, was heavily pursued by the Saudi Pro League after PSG announced he'd be leaving on a free transfer.

Barcelona also apparently were keen, but Messi decided that the United States, namely Inter Miami, would be his next destination, much to the excitement of MLS fans both in the USA and around the world.

According to reports, Messi's deal with Inter Miami is for two-and-a-half years, with the possibility of extending it until 2026. The seven-time Ballon d'Or winner is also anticipated to earn a whopping salary during his time with Inter Miami, with some estimates putting the deal at an estimated $150 million.

And that's not all. In addition to earning an estimated $50 to $60 million per season for his 2.5 year deal, Messi is set to pull in more money thanks to revenue sharing agreements with key MLS partners, including American tech giants Apple, German sporting apparel conglomerate Adidas, and American sportswear provider Fanatics.

Although it was rumored that Messi would also have the chance to buy a MLS club after retirement as part of his deal, similar to the deal David Beckham got when he signed for Los Angeles Galaxy back in 2007, other sources have indicated that that isn't the case.

Inter Miami also apparently aren't done trying to recruit star players just yet, with Spanish icon Sergio Busquets  - who also enjoys a good rapport with Messi both on and off the pitch - being among their targets after the 34-year-old departed Barcelona at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Messi will reportedly make his debut for Inter Miami in just over a months' time when the club face Mexican side Cruz Azul on July 21st in a League Cups tie.
