The Blues have weighed their options regarding the striker, who is not willing to go back to Stamford Bridge after a loan spell with Inter.

Ever since he joined Chelsea, Romelu Lukaku's career has not been as successful as one could think. The Belgian striker seemed to enjoy himself a bit more during his loan spell at Inter, but Chelsea's asking price for his services has fended off the interest of other clubs. Luckily for the player, Chelsea have lowered their expectations to facilitate his departure from the club as soon as possible.

Recent reports by La Gazzetta dello Sport state that Lukaku's attorneys have discussed their client's future, which saw Chelsea slapping a $40M price tag on the Belgian striker. The idea of loaning Lukaku one more time did not satisfy Chelsea's execs, which has seen them choose to lose money in order to bid farewell to the player.

Lukaku has been linked with a permanent move to Inter and Milan, although there could be other teams interested in his services after this decision by Chelsea. In fact, the Italian media outlet states that Milan could be close to Chelsea's demands once Sandro Tonali's move to Newcastle is secured.

Regarding the Premier League club, the Blues have already signed Christopher Nkunku to lead the line this season, but there could be other additions to their project. Nevertheless, the team might struggle to sign a top-caliber striker since they will not be playing European football next season.
