The USWNT will take on Wales in their final prep match prior to the upcoming World Cup, where they will aim to successfully defend their title.

In just over a fortnight's time, the USWNT will join 31 other teams taking part in the ninth edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup. The Stars and Stripes come into the upcoming competition as the reigning champions, and will be aiming to do a "three-peat" after winning it in 2015 and in 2019.

Vlatko Andonovski's team have had a roaring start to 2023, with seven wins from their seven games played, and will be full of confidence ahead of their first-ever meeting against Wales in a warm-up friendly. This will be the last game Team USA will play prior to heading to Australia and New Zealand for the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

Meanwhile, Wales, who narrowly missed out on qualifying for the event, will be looking to test their mettle against one of the top teams in women's football. To date, the Dragons have never qualified for any major international competition, and were within touching distance of making it to what would have been their first ever Women's World Cup competition only to suffer a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Switzerland.

Currently ranked 30th as per FIFA's latest rankings, Wales have had a mixed 2023 so far. They picked up wins over the Philippines (1-0) and Northern Ireland (4-1), but were held to draws against Scotland, Iceland, and Portugal, who will be making their first ever appearance at a World Cup in just a few weeks' time.
