The legendary footballer will retire from international football when the upcoming tournament comes to an end, while her career will go on for a couple more months.

The Women's World Cup is just around the corner, but it will not be a happy day for fans across the world, as one of the top stars in women's football has confirmed her retirement once the 2023 season comes to a close.

In a press conference earlier today, midfielder Megan Rapinoe announced that the 2023 World Cup will be her last with the USWNT. To top it all, the winner of the 2019 Ballon D'Or and FIFA's The Best awards added that she will retire effectively once the 2023 NWSL season concludes.

Rapinoe has cemented her reputation as one of the top players in women's football history, winning two WWC titles, a Gold Medal in 2012, and many other accolades during her international career.
