The Blues look to offload Romelu Lukaku and will need a new striker for Pochettino's debut season.

Despite signing Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal recently, Chelsea are keen on adding a striker to their squad this summer. The London giants, who finished in the bottom half of the Premier League last season, have a shortlist of candidates, with the Evening Standard revealing the name on the Blues' radar.

Todd Boehly and Co. could provide the newly-appointed Argentine head coach with an out-and-out no.9, with Juventus ace Dusan Vlahovic and Montpellier youngster Elye Wahi being targeted. In fact, the London giants are said to have already made contact over a possible transfer.

A final decision is yet to be made, however. Christopher Nkunku has also arrived at Stamford Bridge, but with Romelu Lukaku set to leave again, this time permanently, the Belgian striker will likely need replacing.

Despite his mega-money move to Juventus, Vlahovic has struggled to rekindle the form that earned him plaudits at Fiorentina. The Serbian has also been linked with PSG and Bayern Munich, two other continental powerhouses in need of a no.9, but it remains to be seen what the striker's decision will be regarding his future in Turin.

Wahi, on the other hand, is fresh off an impressive 2022/23 campaign in Ligue 1, scoring a lovely 19 goals in 33 outings despite his club finishing in the bottom half of the French top-flight table.

Napoli sensation Victor Osimhen and Atalanta starlet Rasmus Hojlund are also appreciated by Chelsea. However, the aforementioned Nigerian goalscoring machine could cost over $160M while the Danish striker appears destined for a move to Manchester United.

Meanwhile, Paulo Dybala is a player appreciated by Pochettino but the Argentine does not fit Chelsea's age profile and will thus not be pursued despite the Roma ace's affordable release clause, worth roughly $13M.

There has also been an exodus at the club, with the two-time UEFA Champions League winners offloading several players, including N'Golo Kante, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Kai Havertz, Meteo Kovacic, Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Edouard Mendy, just to name a few.

Pochettino will make his Chelsea debut later this month with the Blues facing Wrexham in the Florida Cup on July 19. This fixture will take place at the Kenan Memorial Stadium in North Carolina and will be aired live on ESPN+, ESPN Deportes USA, and WatchESPN.
