Sporting turned in a dominant performance to see off FC Zurich at the Alvalade and guarantee top spot in Europa League Group D.
The hosts were the superior side throughout the ninety minutes, and the Swiss outfit had their work cut out simply to keep the scoreline respectable.

Ricky van Wolfswinkel put the Portuguese side ahead in the 15th minute when he latched onto a throughball from Dutch team-mate Stijn Schaars, controlled the ball with his right foot and produced a fine left-footed finish into the bottom corner.

Sporting debutant André Martins enjoyed a fine game in midfield, and despite his tender age he dictated the flow of the game in the middle of the park for long periods.

Bulgarian striker Valeri Bojinov doubled Sporting's lead shortly before the hour mark, powering in a close-range header from a superb Diego Capel cross.

André Santos and Wolfswinkel could and should have increased Sporting's lead, but coach Domingos Paciência will be satisifed that his exciting team continue to produce high-level performances on a consistent basis.
