The last teams to make their debut in this competition take the field to put an end to matchday 2 of the tournament. Keep track of the games with this guide.

The end of the group stage in the 2023 Leagues Cup is fast approaching, with only four more days left before we find out the names of the teams that make the KO rounds. But before we get to that, there will be four interesting matches that will put an end to matchday 2, which we are about to analyze for you.

This day will be quite appealing to keep an eye on, as three of Liga MX's most-winning teams will make their debut in this tournament. The teams in question are América, Guadalajara, and Toluca, who have won over 30 titles in the Mexican top-flight. All these teams are seen as suitable contenders to win this tournament, and their debuts these evening might give us a good idea if they can uphold that reputation.

On the other hand, there are other clubs who stand one or two points away from securing a spot in the next round. That list includes Minnesota United, Cincinnati, and Nashville, who could benefit from their past games to secure a place in the KO round.

Here's a preview of all matches taking place this evening.

Guadalajara vs Cincinnati

The first match of the day will feature the most recent runner-up in Liga MX against the best team in the 2023 MLS Season. Chivas will be making their debut in the tournament, while the Orange and Blue will want to build up on their penalty shootout win against Sporting KC this past Sunday. The game will give both Chivas and their coach a chance to redeem themselves, as Guadalajara lost to Cincinnati in the 2022 edition of this tournament 3-1. Meanwhile, coach Veljko Paunovic will be facing Cincy for the fourth time ever, with two losses and a draw to show for in those meetings. Chivas are seen as one of the favorites to win the title, which makes this match against the current leaders in the Supporters' Shield even more appealing.

Minnesota United vs Chicago Fire

The only game of the day in which both contenders play in the MLS features a team ready to qualify to the next round and one of the few American clubs that still waited to make their debut. Prior to the pause that gave way to this tournament, the Fire had won three in a row, while Minnesota are unbeaten in their last three games considering their 4-0 win over Puebla. This will be the second match between these teams in 2023, with the previous one being won by Chicago 2-1 back in April. Minnesota hold the upper hand over Chicago in their six past meetings with three wins in those matches; will they add to those stats with a win today?

Nashville vs Toluca

Another game featuring a debutant (Toluca) and an MLS team ready to play their second match. Toluca enter this tournament in a rather complicated moment, as they have only won once in three Liga MX games prior to the Leagues Cup. Meanwhile, Nashville are fourth in the Eastern Conference, with a good chance to make the playoffs, and get to this match on the back of a 2-1 win over Colorado in their Leagues Cup fixture. A win or even a penalty kick loss for Nashville would see them through to the next round, but Toluca will not go down without a fight. This will be the ninth game for Los Diablos against an MLS club, with a record of three wins, three draws, and two losses. On the other hand, Nashville's only experience facing a Liga MX club ended in a penalty shootout win against América in 2022.

América vs St. Louis City

The final game of the evening features the most-winning team in Mexico against the expansion team from the MLS. América is seen as one of the big contenders to win the Leagues Cup, but they have to deal with St. Louis' impressive momentum while also sorting out some doubts of their own. Right now, América reach this clash with one win after two Liga MX games, leaving a few doubts for their fans back home. On the other hand, the new team in the MLS needs a win here to keep their options alive after a loss to Columbus last Sunday. While this will be the first match ever for St. Louis against a team from another league, América will be playing their 20th match against MLS opposition, trying to improve a record that shows eight wins, four draws, and seven losses.
