Pochettino's side desperately need new midfielders and could switch focus to one of several players that suffered relegation last season.

Chelsea's search for a midfielder continues, and while their pursuit of Moises Caicedo still drags on, the Premier League giants are exploring other options to bolster Mauricio Pochettino's squad.

As a result, the Blues could become another European heavyweight to sign a USMNT player, with the Athletic reporting that Chelsea are ready to step up interest in Leeds ace Tyler Adams.

The 24-year-old, who captained his national team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, suffered relegation last season and could thus leave due to a release clause worth roughly £20M ($26M).

The former RB Leipzig midfielder was one of a few players to come out with credit in the bank following Leeds' poor 2021/22 season. As a result, Boehly and Co. are eyeing a move for the North American talent.

One thing should be noted, however. According to the Telegraph, Chelsea's interest in Adams is completely separate from the Caicedo pursuit. While Tyler can fill the void were the Blues to miss out on the Brighton superstar, the Premier League giants haven't given up on the Ecuadorian sensation just yet.

The club have already lost N'Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek; and could see Conor Gallagher depart as well. Adams could thus compete for a midfield role and partner Enzo Fernandez at Stamford Bridge.

Nonetheless, Caicedo remains the priority despite the lack of a breakthrough. Boehly and Co. have had a number of bids rejected by Brighton, the latest being worth £80M ($102M), with the Seagulls holding out for £100M ($128M). Only time will tell whether Chelsea will meet that valuation or not.
