The 2023-24 Premier League season has finally kicked off, with the new campaign commencing on Friday with Manchester City's 3-0 win over Burnley followed by a handful of fixtures during the weekend. However, Manchester United were made to wait until Monday, with the most successful club in English top-flight history welcoming Wolves in their first game of the season.
The Red Devils are one of several English clubs that have spent heavily over the summer and are thus gearing up for an exciting season. After finishing third last term and reaching the FA Cup and Carabao Cup finals, winning the latter, Erik ten Hag looks to take his side to the next level.
David de Gea, who won the Golden Glove last term, was shown out the door, with Andre Onana arriving from Inter Milan to replace him. Additionally, Mason Mount and Rasmus Højlund were also signed to bolster the squad and relieve the overreliance on Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.
However, preseason was a mixed bag for the 20-time English champions. While Bruno Fernandes and Co. beat Arsenal, who are one of the favorites for the title, and Lens, the Premier League giants suffered undesirable defeats against Real Madrid, Wrexham, and Dortmund.
Furthermore, Manchester United enter this game on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Athletic Club, with Ten Hag's side narrowly avoiding defeat despite playing against 10 men for the final 30 minutes of the game.

Wolves: Things are better for the visitors but Matheus Cunha is a doubt for this tie. It will be a blow if he misses this tie as O'Neil is short on options up front following the departures of Diego Costa and Raul Jimenez. Nathan Collins, Ruben Neves, Adama Traore, and Joao Moutinho have left as well, leaving the head coach with a tough task.
