The Cityzens are aiming to bolster their midfield and have reportedly even bid for one Premier League ace.

Manchester City have all but completed a deal for highly-rated Belgian winger Jeremy Doku but their business is not yet over. According to the latest rumors, the reigning Engish champions have their eyes on two Premier League talents in a bid to further bolster their midfield.

Despite winning the treble last season, Guardiola's side has been severely weakened. The departure of Ilkay Gundogan to Barcelona for free has robbed the Spaniard of one of the best midfielders in world football while Riyad Mahrez's exit has also been costly.

Furthermore, Kevin de Bruyne has suffered a serious hamstring injury and will be out for months, leaving Pep with few options off the bench — in the 1-0 victory over Newcastle, Kalvin Phillips and Nathan Ake were the only experienced subs on the bench.

One name on Manchester City's radar is Crystal Palace ace Eberechi Eze. As revealed by the Daily Mail, the Cityzens are eyeing a move for the English midfielder, though their interest has not materialized into anything serious.

The 25-year-old, who was recently handed his first national team call-up, impressed the Premier League holders with his control at the heart of Palace's midfield. It remains to be seen whether something serious will come from this following Manchester City's collapsed move for Lucas Paqueta, who is facing an FA betting probe.

The Eagles are unsurprisingly unwilling to sell due to the time left in the transfer window and would likely demand north of $89M. However, the player only has two years left on his deal, which means this could be the last month Palace get a large fee for the Englishman.

A short while later, another name was linked to the Etihad Stadium. According to the Athletic, the English giants are eyeing a move for Wolves ace Matheus Nunes. The Portuguese midfielder was praised by Guardiola himself when City faced Sporting CP, the player's former club, in the UEFA Champions League early last year and could now get to work with him.

As is the case with Palace, Wolves are not keen on selling this late in the transfer window but could benefit tremendously from the funds due to their financial woes.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has since weighed in on this topic, tweeting that the Cityzens favor Nunes over Eze. The journalist later revealed that the treble winners have lodged an official bid in excess of $54M plus add-ons for the Portuguese talent. The Wolves ace has already agreed to join the Cityzens and has wrapped up personal terms, leaving everything up to the two clubs.
