The USWNT's failure to progress at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup has has a huge impact on their FIFA rankings.

The fallout for the USWNT continues.

Following their terrible showing at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, which not only saw them earn just five points in the group stages but also were knocked out at the round of 16, the USWNT have seen things go from bad to worse.

Indeed, their five points earned in the group stages was the worst ever result posted for the team since the competition's inception in 1991, and they failed to secure at least a top three finish for the first time ever. As a result, head coach Vlatko Andonovski resigned, and now the team will be on the hunt for a new permanent manager.

In addition, as a result of their disasterous performance in this summer's World Cup, the USWNT have seen their stock plummet.

As per FIFA's latest rankings, Team USA are now the third-ranked team in women's football. That's the lowest ever ranking for them since FIFA started ranking women's teams in 2003, and the Stars and Stripes have been replaced by none other than Sweden as the number one ranked team in women's football.

Spain, not surprisingly, have moved up four spots, with La Roja's historic World Cup win deservedly helping them jump from sixth to second.

Surprisingly, England, despite making it to the final, did not see their ranking improve and are still in fourth spot. Meanwhile, Australia still remain outside the top ten despite the Matildas' historic run to the semi-finals.

Here's the list of the top ten teams in Women's football as per FIFA's latest rankings:

1. Sweden

2. Spain

3. USA

4. England

5. France

6. Germany

7. Netherlands

8. Japan

9. Brazil

10. Canada
