The first Derby della Madonnina of the season will take place on Saturday, September 16th.

Serie A fans will be in for a treat this Saturday as the latest installment of the famous Derby della Madonnina gets underway. Both Inter and Milan come into this game having won their first three games, but the Nerazzurri presently sit in top spot due to their slightly better goal difference (+8 versus Milan's +6).

Both teams are the only remaining sides with perfect records after the first three matchdays, meaning that one, or possibly both sides will see that record end after Saturday's big tie. The Rossoneri and the Nerazzurri are among the teams who have helped break Juventus's undisputed reign as champions of Italy, although both Milan-based sides were pipped to the Scudetto last season by an impressive Napoli side.

Inter, who have won their last four meetings with Milan, are hoping to achieve something they have never done in their long and storied history: to beat the Rossoneri in a fifth straight Derby della Madonnina. Impressively, the Nerazzurri have already set a club record thanks to their four wins over Milan - and all without conceding a single goal. They come into this game having scored eight and conceded none following comfortable wins over minnows Monza and Cagliari before cruising to a 4-0 win over Fiorentina in their last game before the international hiatus.

The Nerazzurri will have a very busy schedule ahead as they will face Real Sociedad in the Champions League next week, but will be firmly focused on making it five wins in five against a very familiar opponent. Meanwhile, Milan have also had a solid start to the 2023/24 season, with three wins from their first three fixtures. New signing Christian Pulisic has already gotten off the mark, with two goals and an assist so far, while veteran striker Olivier Giroud continues to show that age is nothing but a number with four goals and an assist for his side.

Stefano Pioli's men will also be involved in Champions League action next week as they will host Newcastle at the Stadio San Siro in what could be a tricky test for the Diavolo. Last season saw Milan make it to their first semi-final in well over a decade, where they were eventually beaten by Inter in an interesting two-legged Milan Derby. As such, the Rossoneri will certainly be keen on getting some modicum of revenge on a side who have caused them quite a fair share of problems in the not too recent past.
