The Red Devils have sunk to a new low after losing at home to the Seagulls, leaving them with three defeats from their first five games of the season.

The season continues to get worse for Manchester United.

The Red Devils are still in the early stages of the 2023-24 campaign but the Premier League giants have suffered another embarrassing result, losing 3-1 for the second game in a row, this time against Brighton.

Ten Hag's men welcomed the Seagulls to Old Trafford following their defeat to Arsenal just before the international break, and after only 20 minutes, Rashford and Co. found themselves 1-0 down.

Danny Welbeck gave the visitors the lead and while the host created many dangerous situations, Manchester United were unable to equalize before half-time. In the second half, Brighton scored an additional two goals courtesy of Pascal Groß and João Pedro, with Hannibal Mejbri grabbing a consolation goal for the losing team in the final 20 minutes of the game.

This result thus hands Ten Hag's side their third defeat of the season. Given that they have only played five games so far, this leaves them in an extremely difficult situation.

This defeat also saw the Dutch tactician set an unwanted Premier League record. This is the first time in Manchester United's history that they have lost three of their first five games in a Premier League season.

And to add insult to injury, Brighton took to X (formerly Twitter) to troll the 20-time Premier League winners. The Seagulls drew attention to the fact that this is their second consecutive win at Manchester United's home ground, writing: "We just love playing at Old Trafford".

In all fairness, the recent head-to-head record between these two clubs shows nothing but domination from Brighton, with the Seagulls winning their last four Premier League encounters with the Red Devils by a combined scoreline of 10-2.

De Zerbi, who was responsible for two of those aforementioned victories, was even asked about Manchester United and whether he could diagnose what is wrong with the English giants. The Italian tactician pondered over a few points but ultimately opted to focus mainly on his own team.

Things could get worse for Ten Hag's side as their next game is a midweek clash with Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League. Rashford and Co. travel to the Allianz Arena to kick off their European campaign live on Paramount+, ViX, and the Univision and TUDN networks.
