A water main break to the pipeline serving Red Bull Arena has led to Saturday's scheduled Major League Soccer match between New York City FC and Toronto FC being postponed.

The match will be played on Sunday afternoon, NYCFC said in a statement.

The club were using the home of local rivals New York Red Bulls as their usual venue, Yankees Stadium, was being used for baseball.

The club said that as local authorities were assessing the damage, all water to the stadium was shut down, forcing the decision to move the game to Sunday.

NYCFC are in 10th place in the East, a point behind D.C. United, who occupy the last playoff in the conference.

Toronto are at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
