Ten Hag has been crippled with injuries for most of the season but one of his best performers has returned to training ahead of the weekend fixtures.

Manchester United have endured a horrible start to the season. While the Red Devils are sixth in the Premier League table, Ten Hag's men have already suffered five defeats and are bottom of their UEFA Champions League group after four games.

However, the English giants have received a huge boost just as the November international break nears its end. Luke Shaw, one of Ten Hag's key performers last season, has returned to training after a lengthy injury spell.

The left-back suffered a muscle injury and while he was initially expected to miss only a few weeks, the defender has been out of action for three months. His last game for the Red Devils came back in late August in the 2-0 defeat away to Tottenham in only their second game of the season.

This forced Manchester United to sign Sergio Reguilon on loan from Spurs as Tyrell Malacia was — and still remains — injured as well. The return of Shaw should hand the flailing heavyweights a huge boost to return to form.

The Englishman could be in line for a cameo this weekend against Everton, likelier off the bench than in the lineup, but caution from Ten Hag would be a safe bet.

Since Manchester United's last game, Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana have also picked up issues but neither problem is thought to be serious. Nonetheless, the Danish striker might not make the trip to Goodison Park but the Cameroonian goalkeeper should be available.

This is Everton's first game since they were hit with a 10-point penalty over FFP for breaching the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules. As a result, fans of the 20-time English champions nervously await a fiery Goodison Park.
