The Blues have been plagued with injuries throughout the season but one of their key players has returned to fitness.

The Premier League resumes this weekend, with Chelsea facing the daunting task of visiting Newcastle's feared St. James' Park this Saturday. While the London giants enter this clash on the back of a win against Spurs and a 4-4 draw with Manchester City, Pochettino's remain in 10th and are in desperate need of points.

And while Newcastle away is one of the toughest fixtures in the entire Premier League, the London giants have just received a huge injury boost ahead of this tie. According to the Evening Standard, the club could have Christopher Nkunku back in time for Saturday's crucial trip.

The Frenchman was Chelsea's marquee summer signing in attack, costing the two-time UEFA Champions League winners over $58.8M. However, he is yet to make his competitive debut for the club after sadly picking up a serious knee injury during the pre-season tour in the USA.

The former RB Leipzig sensation scored three goals in his first five friendlies for the club but suffered meniscus damage in his left knee. However, the 26-year-old has returned to training but it should be noted that Chelsea will not rush the Frenchman back. As a result, the odds of him featuring against Newcastle are low and if that were to happen, it would only be a cameo off the bench.

Nonetheless, this is a huge boost for a Chelsea side that have, for the most part, struggled for goals this season. Pochettino's men have scored 21 times in the Premier League so far but eight of those came in their last two matches.

Sterling and Co. are nine points behind fifth-placed Aston Villa and while Nkunku is unlikely to feature this weekend, his return is an overall boost for a club currently residing in 10th but desperate to climb up the table.
