Both the Red Devils and the Blues will be hoping for a much-needed win when the two struggling giants clash at Old Trafford on Wednesday, December 6th.

It was not too long ago that any game between Manchester United and Chelsea would be regarded as a potential title decider. However, things have changed over the past few seasons, and at the moment, both the Red Devils and the Blues are nowhere near being title contenders this season.

Manchester United, who sit in seventh, had started to string together some good results, with Erik ten Hag's men picking up three wins on the spin prior to their match against Newcastle United last weekend. However, the Red Devils were unable to find a breakthrough and ended up losing 1-0, which was not the kind of result they needed following their disappointing showing against Galatasaray in the Champions League. Meanwhile, Chelsea, who are not involved in any European competition following a poor campaign last season, find themselves in tenth spot coming into this contest. It has not been a great start to the term for the Blues, who are now under the leadership of Mauricio Pochettino, but they did record a confidence boosting 3-2 win over Brighton last time out to avoid what would have been a third game sans a win.

However, Chelsea's record against Manchester United - and at Old Trafford - will be a major concern for Blues fans. The team have not won a Premier League game at this ground in over ten years, with their last positive result being a narrow 1-0 victory in May 2013. Since then, Chelsea have failed to win in their last ten trips (D6 L4) and that includes a humbling 4-1 defeat this past May. As for Manchester United, they are unbeaten in their last 11 Premier League meetings against Chelsea and certainly will be keen on extending that run on Wednesday.

Both teams are dealing with a huge injury crisis at the moment, which means that each manager will once again struggle to find his best starting XI. Will either of these teams be able to pick up a much needed win, or will their efforts cancel one another out?

Manchester United: Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro, Christian Eriksen, Amad Diallo, Jonny Evans, Mason Mount, and Tyrell Malacia are all out injured, while Jadon Sancho remains banned from the team due to disciplinary issues.

Chelsea: Connor Gallagher is banned for this game after being sent off during his team's win over Brighton last weekend, but Reece James and Marc Cucurella will return to the fold after serving their respective suspensions. However, the visiting side also have quite a few players out, including Ben Chilwell, Malo Gusto, Christopher Nkunku, Romeo Lavia, Wesley Fofana, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Trevoh Chalobah, while youngsters Noni Madueke and Lesley Ugochukwu could also miss out due to muscular issues.
