The Blaugrana need to step things up if they want to catch up with Girona and Real Madrid, who are the top teams in La Liga right now.

Barcelona's struggles on the pitch have prompted discussions about possible additions to the team in hope of boosting their options to lift the title. Unfortunately for their fans, their woes on the pitch have also attracted discussions about potential exits in coming months, which were reportedly squashed by president Joan Laporta earlier today.

Speaking in a meeting with media outlets that cover the club, Laporta referred to the future of two players who's future has been placed in doubt. The players in question are Robert Lewandowski and Ronald Araújo.

When asked about the center back, Laporta did not hesitate to share the reasons why the club will hold on to the footballer, disregarding any option to let him leave in coming months.

"Even if Bayern came along with a big offer, we are not letting him go. The main reason is that Barcelona is not a club that likes to sell players," Laporta stated.

Then, he turned his sights to Robert Lewandowski, adding that their decision has to do with how the team could replace him if he parted ways with the La Liga champions.

"He is not thinking about a possible exit. Besides, he is our only striker," Laporta added.

The president did confirm the club's intentions to hire a new midfielder this winter, which will help fill the gap left by Gavi's injury.
