The club has been hit hard by injuries to some of their best defenders, prompting a variety of options to be named as potential reinforcements.

They say that a true boss will trust his men through thick and thin, and Carlo Ancelotti seems ready to honor that saying during the winter transfer window.

According to reports, the Italian coach was keen on adding more talent to Real Madrid's defense, and had even earmarked rising Portuguese defenders and former pupil Raphael Varane for the job. In a press conference held earlier today, Ancelotti snubbed those claims and will stick to his guns no matter what.

The two-time UCL winner with Los Merengues admitted that the club will suffer if things go wrong with other defenders, but as things stand, the Spanish giants will not sign a new center back in the ongoing transfer window.

"Right now, we are not thinking about signing another center back. Two of our defenders are out, but we have two more that have our respect and trust: Rüdiger and Nacho. If we need to, Tchouameni and Carvajal can step up in the event of an emergency," Ancelotti stated.

Then, after another journalist insisted, Ancelotti was adamant with his reply.

"I repeat: we will not be signing any players," Ancelotti said.

Players such as Gonçalo Inacio (Sporting CP) and Antonio Silva (Benfica) were named as options, but Real Madrid's main man ruled out any of those signings.

In fact, the coach praised Tchouameni's skills as defenders as he had to fill the void left by Nacho after his red card against Alavés.

"He is going to hate my words, but he is a great center back. He knows what his job is, he gets the ball out like very few players in the world, and tactically he is great. He is lucky to be able to play as a holding midfielder and as a center back as well," Ancelotti added.

While Eder Militao is expected back on the pitch in March, Alaba may have played his final game for Real Madrid this season. While it may seem like a bold move by Ancelotti, let us wait and see if this bet pays off on the long run.
