Algeria vs Burkina Faso

The Stallions kicked off in style and took the top spot of Group D, meaning that a draw or a win here would seal their spot in the next round. That might be easier said than done, as Algeria will pose quite a threat to their plans due to their draw on their opening game. Algeria have beaten Burkina Faso in nine of their 22 matches, although only one of those has come in a past AFCON edition. Will they add to that number, or will the current group leaders nab the win?

Mauritania vs Angola

Group D will see the second day of activity coming to an end with the game where Mauritania and Angola will try to win their first match of the competition. The Lions of Chinguetti succumbed to Burkina Faso in their first game, which means that another loss could effectively end their hopes to reach the next round. On the ther hand, Angola rallied back to draw against Algeria, although their performance was far from being something to be proud of. This will be the fifth game between these teams, and judging by what they have offered in previous meetings, we could have a tight game in our hands after watching these teams play out to one win each and two draws in four previous clashes.

Tunisia vs Mali

Tunisia kicked off their run in this AFCON on the wrong foot, following their surprising loss to Namibia in the dying minutes of the game. On the other hand, Mali claimed a two-nil win over South Africa, which leaves them in prime position to reach the next stage. This will be the fourteenth match between these teams, with the Eagles of Carthage claiming six wins, leaving Mali with five victories to show for. All in all, this could be a tricky match to predict, but both sides clearly have what it takes to claim all points and maintain options to reach the KO stage in this competition.
