Almeria were on the wrong end of three controversial VAR decisions, sparking anger from the relegation-battling side and fans watching the game.

The VAR audio from Vinicius Junior's controversial equalizer in Real Madrid's encounter with Almeria has been revealed and it has not gone down well with the relegation-battling side.

The Andalusian outfit are bottom in La Liga and are all but destined to get relegated this season. However, after 43 minutes at Santiago Bernabeu, Gaizka Garitano's men were dreaming of a historic win over Los Blancos after going 2-0 up over Ancelotti's side.

However, Bellingham and Co. staged a comeback, winning 3-2 in the end, but this victory was marred by VAR controversy, the most contentious surrounding Vinicius Junior's equalizing goal in the 67th minute.

The match official initially ruled out that effort. However, despite certain angles appearing to show the ball ricocheting off of the Brazilian's arm before hitting the back of the net, VAR suggested a review before the goal was ultimately awarded.

And that was what led to Almeria's fiery response on Twitter once the audio was released. The angle shown to the referee appears to show the ball striking Vinicius Jr. on his shoulder. However, the angle that suggests the ball struck his arm was not shown to the official.

"Why wasn't the referee shown the rest of the angles that we have been able to see on TV?" the club responded via their official X (formerly Twitter) page.

This was not the only point of contention. The Spanish giants were also awarded a penalty just before the hour mark courtesy of an intervention from VAR but not everyone agreed with this decision.

Furthermore, Girona had scored a few minutes after Bellingham netted from the spot only for VAR to intervene once more and rule it out due to a foul in the build-up, sparking further anger towards the officiating.

Almeria, who are yet to win a single game in La Liga this season, were thus forced to wait for their first victory of the campaign. Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti defended the match officials during his post-match interview, stating that VAR got it right in all three instances.

And with that result, the Spanish Super Cup champions kept up pace with current La Liga leaders Girona who beat Sevilla 5-1 that same day. As a result, only one point separates the two clubs.
