If things go as planned, Paris Saint-Germain will not be the only French club with big funds coming from Asian investors.
Speaking in a recent interview, a member of the Saudi Arabian royal family has spoken about their intentions to buy a stake in a Ligue 1 club. While the only options at the moment would be Monaco and Olympique Marseille, Abdullah Saad Abdulaziz Al Saud spoke specifically about Marseille and who would be their first option to lead the team.
The Prince admitted that the first option to invest their money would be L'Om, adding how he believes the club to have great potential for a successful investment.
"I believe that it would be a wise decision to invest in France. Marseille or Monaco, I think those would be good options. I know Marseille, they are a very good team," Prince Abdulaziz stated.
Rumors about Zinedine Zidane being the top choice for the Saudi Arabian royal family as manager have been circling for quite a few years, and the Prince did not hold back with his thoughts on the French tactician.
"I don't know what kind of relationship there could be between Saudi Arabia and Zinedine Zidane when it comes to Marseille, but anything is possible. I think Zidane is a great coach," the member of the royal family added.
Prince Abdulaziz went on to discuss ongoing plans to make the Saudi Pro League one of the best in the world, with even more surprises to come in terms of new superstars joining the league.
"We have Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, we have a powerful league and we will shock everyone one more time. More stars will come to the league. Saudi Arabia plans to become the No. 1 destination for football very soon," he concluded.
After 18 matches this season, Marseille are seventh in Ligue 1 following a start of the season with seven wins, seven draws, and four losses. While the current owners have turned down any interest in selling the club, a big bid could change their minds. Additionally, Zidane's return to his homeland would be quite a sight for all Marseille fans.
