Familiar foes Liverpool and Chelsea will square off in an intriguing Premier League clash at Anfield on Wednesday, January 31st.

An interesting game is certainly on the cards as familiar opponents Liverpool and Chelsea prepare to do battle at Anfield on Wednesday. The two teams have had vastly contrasting showings in the Premier League, with Liverpool currently sitting on top of the table while Chelsea continue to struggle to break into the top ten.

Earlier this month, Reds fans were dealt a huge shock as Jurgen Klopp announced that this season will be his last at the helm of the English giants. Certainly, that announcement will be added impetus for Liverpool to continue their push to win at least one title this season, with the Reds firmly in the battle for both domestic and continental trophies before the German tactician officially departs.

Liverpool come into this game unbeaten in their last 14 Premier League games and are currently on a three match winning streak. The Reds also cruised to a comfortable 5-2 win over Norwich City in the FA Cup and will be hoping that their long-standing unbeaten run at Anfield - which now stands at 22 games - could give them the added edge when Chelsea come to town on Wednesday.

Although Chelsea are nowhere near competing for the title this season, the Blues have been in decent form lately and come into this tie on a three game winning streak in the Premier League. Mauricio Pochettino's side are hoping to win four in a row for the first time in over a year and will be hopeful of nicking at least a point off Liverpool. The last seven meetings between these two teams have interestingly finished as draws, including a one-all stalemate in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

The Blues have not lost in any of their last six meetings with Liverpool, with one win and five draws during that time, but have struggled for results on the road, with five losses from their last six in their travels. All in all, given the history between these two clubs, fans will be in for an intriguing tactical battle, and as to whether Liverpool's formidable record at Anfield will give the Reds that added edge will remain to be seen.
