The Manchester Derby is back! For the second time this season, Manchester City lock horns with bitter rivals Manchester United in a must-win showdown for both teams. The Etihad Stadium will be the venue for this 10:30 a.m. ET fixture as the Red Devils go in search of bragging rights over a team battling it out for the title.

Guardiola's men entered Matchweek 27 as the Premier League's second-placed club, sitting four points behind leaders Liverpool and a point ahead of third-placed Arsenal. This is how tight the title race is this season as none of the three contenders can afford to drop points.

Liverpool were in action on Saturday and while they are plagued with injuries, Arsenal are not and the Gunners visit relegation-battling Sheffield United on Monday. This means failure to win the Manchester Derby could see Haaland and Co. drop to third.

Fortunately, form is on the hosts' side. Not only do the Cityzens enter this game on the back of a massive 6-2 victory over Luton Town in the FA Cup, but Guardiola's men are also on an 18-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, with Manchester City winning all but two of those matches.

In typical Man City fashion, the English giants have gotten into their stride during the run-in, with the club's last defeat across all competitions coming back on December 6. However, there have been concerns for the reigning champions.

Haaland and Co. have struggled in front of goal in the top flight recently, scoring only once in each of their last three games. This includes their most recent fixture, a 1-0 victory away to Bournemouth in which the Cityzens could have easily dropped points — be it two or all three.

And while Haaland and De Bruyne reminded football fans across the globe of their qualities in the win over Luton Town, with Erling scoring five goals and Kevin picking up four assists, City exhibited some eye-catching defensive frailties. Can Manchester United exploit those issues?

The Red Devils were also in FA Cup action during the midweek, locking horns with Nottingham Forest in the 5th round. Erik ten Hag's men left the City Ground with a huge sigh of relief after beating Nuno Espírito Santo's side 1-0 thanks to Casemiro's 89th-minute winner but the English giants return to where they have struggled all season: the Premier League.

Unlike Manchester City, Manchester United do not enter this game on the back of a lovely unbeaten streak. In fact, the visitors' last league match was their embarrassing 2-1 loss at home to Fulham where they were dominated on home soil.

Harry Maguire got on the scoresheet but goals from Calvin Bassey and Alex Iwobi left the Red Devils redfaced and embarrassed. However, it should be noted that the club's form has picked up recently, winning six out of their last seven matches, four of which came in the league.

As a result, Rashford and Co. have propelled themselves back into a top-four race. Manchester United are currently sixth with 44 points but are 11 points adrift of fourth-placed Aston Villa. While that gap is huge, it was significantly worse earlier on in the campaign.

Regardless, Ten Hag's men are fighting an uphill battle to secure UEFA Champions League football. Failure to do so will gravely hamstring their summer transfer plans, thus making every single match between now and the end of the season crucial.

Unfortunately, Ten Hag's men suffered humiliation the last time they crossed paths with Manchester City and are thus fearing a repeat. With Rashford struggling for goals, Bruno Fernandes' output waning this season, and Ten Hag dealing with several injuries, things could end horribly for the Red Devils.

Team news

Manchester City: Jack Grealish picked up an injury in the win over Luton Town and while it is not thought to be serious, the Englishman will miss Sunday's derby. Josko Gvardiol is also set to miss this tie but Ederson, Foden, Dias, and Rodri should return to the lineup after sitting out the FA Cup win.

Manchester United: Ten Hag, meanwhile, has a host of injuries as Mason Mount, Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, Rasmus Hojlund, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Tyrell Malacia, and Anthony Martial are all sidelined. As a result, the struggling Marcus Rashford could be forced to play down the middle. Bruno Fernandes, who left the City Ground limping, should be fine for this tie while Raphael Varane is fighting to be fit as well.
