The Argentine talent played a key role in both goals, helping the Red Devils return to winning ways to prevent therir top-four hopes from going up in flames.

Manchester United returned to winning ways on Saturday, beating Everton 2-0 in front of Old Trafford, with Erik ten Hag having Alejandro Garnacho to thank.

After suffering back-to-back defeats in the league, the Red Devils were keen on ending this run to prevent their top-four hopes from going up in flames. Thankfully for the home side, their Argentine winger delivered, playing a key role in both goals.

The English giants took an early lead, with Bruno Fernandes scoring in the 12th minute. However, it was thanks to Garnacho and his majestic dribbling, drawing a foul from James Tarkowski inside the Everton box and thus winning a penalty.

Just over 20 minutes later, the 19-year-old was at it again, winning Manchester United yet another penalty. This time, it was Ben Godfrey who fell victim to the talented teenager, with his clumsy tackle bringing the South American down and all but handing over the three points to Manchester United.

Marcus Rashford took the second spot kick, burning it past Jordan Pickford with ease. However, Garnacho came away with the accolades, winning the Man of the Match award and making history along the way.

Never before had a Manchester United player won two penalties in one Premier League fixture, making this a first. The teenager was all smiles after the game, but as expected, his focus was the three points and the importance of this victory.

With this result, Manchester United moved within three points of fifth-placed Tottenham. However, Ten Hag's side still have their work cut out for them as fourth-placed Aston Villa are still eight points ahead. Unai Emery's men face Spurs on Sunday but the North London side have a game in hand over the Red Devils while the Lions have two.
