The viewership numbers for soccer matches watched in the USA from March 4 to March 10, 2024, are in. Unsurprisingly, one fixture stood head and shoulders above the rest and that was the final Premier League battle between the iconic managers Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola.
Liverpool hosted Man City on Sunday, and with Klopp leaving Anfield at the end of the summer, fans were eager for a thrilling finale to this rivalry. And that is exactly what we were treated to, with this end-to-end game ending in a 1-1 draw.
Over one million average viewers — 1,1453,000 average viewers, to be precise — tuned in to the USA Network to catch the action as John Stones and Alexis Mac Allister got on the scoresheet. An additional 566,000 viewers tuned in to Telemundo's coverage of this tie, taking the total viewers to 1.71 million in the USA, making this the largest Nielsen-measured audience of the season — the record was 1.49 million for Liverpool vs. Arsenal in December.
This was not the only Premier League tie to make the top three. Arsenal's clash with Brentford took the third spot on the podium, racking up 838,000 average viewers on NBC as goals from Declan Rice and Kai Havertz took the Gunners top of the table.
And finally, this list would not be complete without a Liga MX fixture. Sandwiched in between the two Premier League matches is Club America's 2-0 victory over Tigres UANL, which earned Univision 956,000 average viewers. As a result, the Eagles are within a point of league leaders Monterrey.
Lionel Messi's Inter Miami also made the cut — but further down the list — with their CONCACAF Champions Cup showdown with Nashville. Messi and fellow Barcelona icon Luis Suarez both got on the scoresheet to help the Herons pull off a second-half comeback to draw 2-2.
