The English defender could not contain his emotions after scoring on his Premier League debut for the Blues.

Chelsea, the champions of Europe, got their Premier League campaign underway with their home clash against Crystal Palace. It was yet another professional display from Thomas Tuchel's side, with the Blues brushing aside their fellow London side, kicking things off with a win.

While three goals were scored and a clean sheet was kept, two impressive feats to pull off in the Premier League, the standout moment in Saturday's Stamford Bridge encounter wasn't any of that. Instead, it was the emotional goal celebration from Chelsea youngster Trevoh Chalobah after tripling his team's lead.

The 22-year-old, who has been with the London giants since the age of 8, was handed his first Premier League start. After his commanding display in the UEFA Super Cup win over Villarreal, it came as no surprise to see the Englishman retain his starting XI spot, but it was an occasion to remember nonetheless.

He played no part in his team's first two goals, merely keeping things tight at the back while Marcus Alonso and Christian Pulisic got their names on the scoresheet. However, right around the hour mark, the center-back decided to take an audacious attempt on goal, and he scored, blasting a thunderous strike past the Crystal Palace goalkeeper to make it 3-0.

And with that, he became the young player to score on his Premier League debut for the Blues since Paul Hughes (20yy 274d) in January 1997. Things were made all the more special by Chalobah's reaction as the Chelsea youth product, overwhelmed with emotion, dropped to his knees in tears, having made it at his boyhood club.

Coming through the academy and making it into the starting XI of any top European team is difficult. Pulling this off at Stamford Bridge, a cut-throat club who will sacrifice anyone at the altar of success, is a whole different prospect. This moment of joy was touching and thus it won the hearts of everyone who tuned in for that London derby. Check out the best tweets below.
