The Portuguese icon has signed a two-year deal with the Red Devils and will become an Old Trafford player for the second time in his career.

One of the biggest and craziest transfers of the ongoing summer window was the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to Manchester United. After months and months of speculation, the Portuguese icon left Juventus, bringing an end to his three-year stay in Turin, but it is where he ended up – and how he got there – that shocked everyone.

Initially, a move to Man City was tipped, but the Red Devils quickly threw their hat into the ring and within the blink of an eye, they wrapped up a deal for their former no.7. Their announcement sparked much fanfare as the Old Trafford supporters burst with joy at the prospect of seeing the iconic striker back in the Theatre of Dreams.

The five-time Ballon d'Or initially agreed a deal in principle but has now completed his move, undergoing a medical before signing a two-year deal – with an option for a third year – for Solskjaer's side. Upon wrapping up the formalities, the 36-year-old took to social media to express his joy over returning to Old Trafford.

"Everyone who knows me, knows about my never ending love for Manchester United," the Portuguese ace wrote on Facebook.

"The years I spent in this club where absolutely amazing and the path we've made together is written in gold letters in the history of this great and amazing institution.

"I can't even start to explain my feelings right now, as I see my return to Old Trafford announced worldwide. It's like a dream come true, after all the times that I went back to play against Man. United, and even as an opponent, to have always felt such love and respect from the supporters in the stands. This is absolutely 100% the stuff that dreams are made of!

"My first domestic League, my first Cup, my first call to the Portuguese National team, my first Champions League, my first Golden Boot and my first Ballon d'Or, they were all born from this special connection between me and the Red Devils. History has been written in the past and history will be written once again! You have my word!

"I'm right here! I'm back where I belong! Let's make it happen once again!"

CR7 wrapped up his note with a lovely message dedicated to former manager Sir Alex Ferguson, writing "PS - Sir Alex, this one is for you…"

The best gift Cristiano could give the legendary Scottish tactician is winning a trophy at Man United. The Red Devils have not tasted silverware since Jose Mourinho and last got their hands on the Premier League crown in Sir Alex's final season at the club. However, given the type of player Ronaldo is, expect the 20-time champions to give Chelsea, Man City, and Liverpool a run for their money.
