Klopp could be without one key attacker for quite some time.

While Liverpool came away from their midweek UEFA Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid with a convincing 2-0 victory, that Anfield win was not without casualty.

Roberto Firmino picked up an injury in that fiery clash with Diego Simeone's men, with the Brazilian forward lasting only 33 minutes on the pitch before being forced off with a hamstring issue despite only coming on as a half-time substitute.

Speaking ahead of the club's tricky trip to West Ham over the weekend, manager Jurgen Klopp offered a gloomy update on the Selecao ace. The German admitted that Firmino's hamstring injury was a serious one before refusing to predict when he will recover.

"Bobby is not good news with a serious hamstring injury, really unfortunate," the boss told the club's official website. "We don't know exactly how long he will be out but it will be after the international break. We have to work on that."

While Klopp has Diogo Jota, who has been stellar this season, to fall back on, this will be worrying for the Merseyside giants nonetheless. Given that the Africa Cup of Nations kicks off in two months, Jurgen will be closely following Firmino's recovery as both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah will both depart to represent their countries.

And unfortunately, that's not all for the Reds. The Premier League giants will be without Curtis Jones after the midfielder picked up an unlucky eye injury while Joe Gomez will miss Sunday's tie due to a calf issue.

Liverpool suffered a slip-up in the Premier League last weekend, throwing away a 2-0 lead at home to Brighton to draw 2-2 with the Seagulls. As a result, Salah and Co. have now fallen three points behind league leaders Chelsea.

Next up for the Reds is a trip to West Ham. David Moyes' men have enjoyed a meteoric rise under the former Man United and Everton boss, with the Hammers currently sitting in fourth with 20 points. This means a win over Liverpool would see the London side leapfrog them in the table.
