League One side Coventry City is all set to take on English Premier League giants Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup.

Team News

Younes Kaboul is set to miss out for Tottenham Hotspur. Benoit Assou Ekoto is a slight doubt as well for them for this one. Scott Parker is set to return for Spurs.

For Coventry City, their top striker, David McGoldrick has decided to move on to greener pastures. Leon Clarke is being brought in as a possible replacement. James Bailey and Blair Adams have both been cleared to play. Otherwise, Mark Robbins does not have any fresh injury concerns ahead of this clash.

Analysis

Coventry is coming into this match on the back of a home loss to Shrewsbury. They are a full ten points below the third side in their table. They are ‘stuck’ in mid table, unable to really move either way. They are not currently under the threat of relegation as they are a full 16 points above Portsmouth in twenty-first place. Whether they will be able to compete against Tottenham is doubtful though.

Spurs defeated Reading, 3-1, in their most recent Premier League match. They have had a good run in the league recently; they sit in third spot in the table. Last season, Spurs heartbreakingly missed out on the Champions League due to Chelsea’s triumph over Bayern. Andre Villas Boas will hope his side holds onto third for automatic qualification.

Villas Boas also perhaps knows that the FA Cup is a realistic target for his side. An easy win over Coventry should set the tone for a good FA Cup campaign ahead.
