The English striker was on target for the Giallorossi as they picked up a point in Sunday's meeting with Sassuolo.

Tammy Abraham closed in on yet another remarkable record in Serie A following his contribution for AS Roma in Sunday encounter with Sassuolo. The 24-year-old striker found the back of the net as his side fought fiercely to secure a crucial point in the afternoon's 2-2 draw.

After a 0-0 league stalemate with relegation-threatened Genoa and a 2-0 Coppa Italia defeat by Inter Milan in the previous week, the Giallorossi were seeking for a response and were handed the best possible start. Although it took a while, Abraham's spot-kick in the first minute of additional time in the first half handed the capital club the needed advantage going into the break.

With the goal, the former Chelsea attacker took his tally for the season to 11, equalling David Platt's haul (11 goals in 1992) as the third best English scorer in a Serie A season. The England international is now a goal short of Gerald Hitchen's 12 goal tally which he managed in 1963 and five short of what the latter recorded in 1962.

A poor start to the second half ended up hurting the chances of Roma as Sassuolo would manage an equalizer when a cross deflected by Smalling went under the keeper in the 47th minute. Traore then put the hosts ahead in the 73rd minute before his side's skipper Ferrari was sent off after receiving a second yellow.

Roma then pushed for an equalizer and were eventually rewarded with Bryan Cristante scoring in the 94th-minute to rescue a 2-2 draw for Jose Mourinho's side. With the result, they lost more ground in the race for European qualification as they currently sit two points behind sixth-placed Lazio and four points behind Juventus in fourth.
