The 37-year-old shot-stopper has written his name in the history books thanks to his goals in a recent regional match.

We all know a goalkeeper's job is to obviously stop goals, hence why it's always notable when a shot-stopper actually grabs a goal himself.

So rare is this is that when they do score, it's notable.

But how often have we seen a goalkeeper score more than one goal in a single match?

Not often, that's for certain.

Well, Greek shot-stopper Grigoris Athanasiou has now joined a very elite club, thanks to his performance for fourth-tier side Pavlos Melas against Aetos Vassilikon recently.

Notably, the 37-year-old scored all three goals for his side in a 3-0 win over their opponents.

Have a look at the video below:

In doing so, Athanasiou now has become only the second goalkeeper to net a hat-trick in a single league match, following in the footsteps of Paraguayan Jose Luis Chilavert, who scored three goals as his team, Velez Sarsfield, cruised to a 6-1 rout of Ferro Carril Oeste in Argentina back in 1999. All in all, Chilavert is regarded as among the most prolific goalkeepers, netting a total of 67 goals during his career (59 for club and eight for his country) - albeit he ranks way behind Brazilian icon Rodrigo Ceni, who netted 131 goals during his time as a player.
