The Red Devils will try to finish the season in UEFA Champions League spots under interim boss Ralf Rangnick, who will also have a say on who replaces him in the team's dugout.

Manchester United's hunt for a new manager is already underway, and this time, they will try to hit the nail on its head by making a thorough analysis of all the options.

Speaking in an interview with The Athletic, the team's sporting director John Murtough revealed that the process to find Ralf Rangnick's replacement has started. Although he did not mention any names, Murtough shared the kind of goals the new boss will be asked to fulfill when he takes over as Manchester United's new tactician.

"We are already working in a thorough process to find our new permanent coach, who must be around this summer with the main goal to have us fighting for both domestic and European tournaments," Murtough stated.

These words hint that Rangnick's term as coach will not be extended as initially discussed, and he will end up joining the team's board as a consultant for the next two years.

Murtough went on to share how the team will try to focus on finding a coach that can carry the team's weight for a long time, rather than trying to achieve immediate success.

"We know that consistency is key, and we expect to end the season among the top four teams. But I want to emphasize that this is not Manchester United's main goal, everyone in the club must work and hope to accomplish some of the best titles in the world of football," Murtough added.

Coaches such as Zinedine Zidane, Antonio Conte or Mauricio Pochettino have been linked to the club in the past few months, but the name of the man that will try to steer the team back to greatness will not be revealed anytime soon.
