The team will finally add new blood to their defensive unit after years of relying on players such as Gerard Piqué and others.

Barcelona's search for new players has finally paid off with the kind of footballer the team's supporters wanted for many years.

With the team being able to sign reliable players up front, the task of identifying new players for the club in defense was handed to Xavi Hernández, and while one of his main targets may not join the club next summer, one more will do so to give him more options in defense.

According to journalist Gerard Romero, the Blaugrana side has reached an agreement to hire none other than Chelsea's center back Andreas Christensen. The 25-year-old center back will join Los Culés on a free transfer next summer after agreeing personal terms back in November.

Christensen became the team's first option at center back, where he will have to fight for a spot in the lineup with players such as Gerard Piqué, Eric García, Clement Lenglet, and Samuel Umtiti, although the French footballer may be forced to leave the club due to his poor contribution to the team in recent years.

The Danish player's arrival, according to Romero, is "99% certain". The journalist stated that only a surprising turn of events would prevent him from signing with Los Culés.

Christensen could also have one of his teammates with Chelsea joining him in his Camp Nou adventure, as César Azpilicueta has also been mentioned as an option to reinforce the team. Nevertheless, the English club is expected to execute a contract extension to keep the Spaniard around despite his reported desire to join the Blaugranas.
