The two South American stars were the target of jeers and whistles during Sunday's 3-0 win over Bordeaux in Ligue 1.

Sunday saw PSG fans turn on their own players in the aftermath of their embarrassing UEFA Champions League exit, with two men in particular being booed throughout yesterday's 3-0 win over Bordeaux. Those were none other than Lionel Messi and Neymar, with the South American superstars being accused of simply stealing a living after their poor performance against Real Madrid.

Every touch garnered jeers and whistles from the Parc des Princes crowd, with only Kylian Mbappe, who scored both home and away in the 3-2 aggregate defeat against Los Blancos, being spared. The Brazilian got on the scoresheet while the Argentine played his part in all three goals despite failing to register an assist, but this did little to appease the frustrated home supporters.

Speaking after the game, Mauricio Pochettino, whose future has been cast under doubt, looked to address the issue. The Argentine coach argued that the fans had every right to be upset following Les Parisiens' unforgettable European elimination, but the decision to constantly boo two players out of an entire squad was one he could not agree with.

"No, for me it's unfair. We all deserve this anger from the fans, not just Neymar and Messi, they are two world-class players," Pochettino said, as per Marca.

"They must therefore be respected. When we lose or win, it's always as a team. We can understand the frustration, the disappointment of our supporters.

"We feel the same and we are all together in this immense frustration of not going further in the Champions League. The whistles were for everyone, but the focus is to win the title.

"The situation is difficult, we are not going to change the past. I have to try to concentrate and win the title but also the next matches."

The French giants triumphed over the weekend, but that result amounts to little as PSG already boast a 15-point lead at the top and are thus coasting their way to the domestic title. The league leaders will travel to Monaco next, and while the team will work hard to secure a win over their bitter rivals, the three points will not bring an end to this fallout.

Not only has Pochettino been linked with the sack, with the former Tottenham boss eyeing a move to Manchester United, but the rumors also claim that president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and sporting director Leonardo could also leave their roles after overseeing this recent mess.
