MLS Matchday 6 Matchday of the Week: LA Galaxy vs. Los Angeles FC

North American soccer fans are getting spoiled early in the 2022 MLS season with the 14th edition of El Trafico. LA Galaxy has dominated this young but exciting derby since its inception on March 31, 2018. The original Los Angeles side has led the all-time record, which currently sits at 5-3-5, since its first meeting against LAFC.

Los Angeles FC arrives at Dignity Health Sports Park at the peak of the Western Conference table. The Black and Gold are 4-1-0 to start their 2022 campaign and look to stay at the helm of the conference. LAFC’s attention will be on the result more so than the derby.

An LA Galaxy win would put it just one point away from the top of the conference. Manager Greg Vanney’s side is coming off a 3-1 away win at Providence Park in Portland. Forward Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez scored a double, leading the team to a victory against a then home undefeated Portland Timbers.

Soccer fans in the USA can catch all the action live on FOX Network and FOX Deportes (Spanish-language). The game will stream live on FOX Sports App.

MLS games to watch on matchday 6

Orlando City vs. Chicago Fire

Spanish-language channels TUDN and Univision will broadcast a clash between Eastern Conference sides Orlando City and Chicago Fire on Saturday, April 9, at 1 p.m. ET.

The game will kick off Matchday 6 play with two teams that find themselves skirmishing in playoff spots. The Fire Men in Red sit fourth in the conference with nine points after five games. The Lions, on the other hand, are in the 6th position six games into the season and trail Chicago by one point.

Ezra Hendrickson’s side has displayed the best defense this season, keeping four clean sheets and conceding just once. However, Chicago’s offense has been ineffective at times, as three of its games have ended in goalless draws. The first of the three 0-0 draws came at the claws of the Lions, who have scored in every game since.

New York City FC vs. DC United

Watch New York City FC and DC United fight for survival live on Yes Network and Yes App in the USA. The game kicks off on Saturday at 5 p.m. ET.

New York City FC hopes to pick up its form against DC United at home after four consecutive losses in all competitions. The reigning champions are living a rough patch early in the season and now have a chance to turn things around against an inconsistent DC side. The Red-and-Black are not doing so much better than NYCFC. DC United is coming off three straight losses against Chicago, Toronto and Atlanta.

Charlotte FC vs. Atlanta United

A contender for MLS Game of the Week is Charlotte FC vs. Atlanta United live on ABC, ESPN Deportes and ESPN3 in the USA on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. ET.

Atlanta finds itself in third place in the Eastern Conference after a positive start to its 2022 MLS campaign. The Five Stripes are posting a 3-1-1 ahead of their clash against expansion side Charlotte FC, who they already defeated in March. Nonetheless, Charlotte followed the defeat with back-to-back home triumphs led by Poland’s Karol Swiderski against New England and Cincinnati. The Crowns hope to bounce back from a 2-0 away loss at Philadelphia.

Austin FC vs. Minnesota United

FOX Sports 1, FOX Deportes and FOX Sports App will screen Austin FC vs. Minnesota United in the USA on Sunday, at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Eighth-place Minnesota United is looking to get back on track after a 2-1 home loss against Seattle Sounders. The Loons were undefeated before their defeat to Seattle, with two wins and a couple of draws. Austin FC also hopes to pick up the pace it started with after two five-goal performances on matchdays one and two. Los Verdes have lost a game and drawn two after that.

MLS action will close with Minnesota and Austin hoping to pick up their form.
